Medallion with double maple border from entry door

Medallion with double maple border from entry door

This is a medallion that we installed in our client’s entry way.  It’s an oval compass 24″x42″ from a local St. Louis artisan.  It is inset into a herringbone pattern of 3 1/4″  Brazilian Walnut with a double 1 1/2″ maple border around the perimeter.  It was challenging.  We started Friday 6/26 and finished today, Tuesday 7/1.  This is a site finished job and has a natural finish of Bona Mega, which is extremely durable and low VOC (less than 150 g/l).  We !!LOVE!! projects like this.

The second photo really shows the true character coloration of the Brazilian Walnut.  It has lot of green in it.  The first has a red hue due to lighting (we’re better floor layers than photographers!)
